Kobisher Family

A lovely mini family portrait session in Mission, Texas.

I made the short trip to Mission, Texas, yesterday to do a mini portrait session with the Kobisher family. Their daughter, Donna, is engaged to Thomas – I captured their engagement photos in the middle of winter storm Uri on Valentine’s Day – and they will be marrying in 2022. In the meantime, Donna loved what I did for her and Thomas so much that she asked me to come and photograph her with her lovely parents. The Kobishers were all very polite and gracious.

It was around 84ºF that evening, so Donna brought me a glass of cold water as I worked outside. I decided not to rely solely on available light, but instead set up my three Interfit Honey Badger 320 Ws strobes with their small collapsible softboxes. With the Interfit wireless commander unit I was able to control each strobe remotely from my camera, a Canon EOS 6D Mark II. The lenses I used were the 28mm F1.8 and 85mm F1.8.

Although turnaround for a mini session is usually between 2-5 days, I was able to deliver the photos from this session the next day. Donna replied that the pictures look amazing! I’m looking forward to her and Thomas’ wedding next year.

Incidentally, upon working with the photos from this session, I noticed my 85mm F1.8 lens is front-focusing. I’m going to have to make some microadjustments on my gear this afternoon.
